On the PIE root-structure constraint prohibiting repeated consonants

چکیده
This paper confronts and resolves the problem of apparent exceptions to constraint prohibiting co-occurrence identical consonants in both syllable margins PIE root: schematically, †… Ci … E …, where † indicates prohibition root structure following it, = consonant, ablauting vowel, optional additional margins. In advancement previous work addressing this — most recently exemplified Cooper (2009), Corbeau (2013) Weiss (2020) it eliminates several potential proposes that, once a cross-linguistic absence-of-contrast principle is taken into account which determines relation laryngeal features (glottalization, aspiration, voicing) that contain them, no clear-cut remain.

ing away from the reduplicated part of the stem, these verbs are derived from triliterals such as /¿rm/, and are assimilable to the large class of triliteral roots more typically realized as in (6). Only one root, identified by Bassano as belonging to the Hamasen dialect, is treated in this analysis as a true quinquiliteral (cf. also (37) below). It is also unique among five-slot templates in t...
متن کاملOn Repeated-root Cyclic Codes
A parity-check matrix for a q -ary repeated-root cyclic code is derived using the Hasse derivative. Then the min imum distance of a q-ary repeated-root cyclic code C is expressecin terms of the min imum distance of a certain simple-root cyclic code C that is determined by C. With the help of this result, several binary repeated-root cyclic codes of lengths up to n = 62 are shown to contain the ...
